The WSIS Forum 2020 will be held from 6 to 9 April 2020 at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The overall theme for WSIS Forum 2020 is "Fostering digital transformation and global partnerships: WSIS Action Lines for achieving SDGs”.
ITU is deeply committed to increasing youth engagement and participation in the Forum. Youth engagement is particularly important given the fact that young people around the world use ICTs substantially more than previous generations.
This year, WSIS Forum will feature several activities designed to encourage youth engagement and participation, including workshops, training sessions, youth café, and presentations by young innovators.
Additionally, the Hackathon on Smart and Sustainable Cities will be held on 5 and 6 April 2020. The 2020 Hackathon will be organized by the ITU, University of Geneva - Geneva Tsinghua Initiative (GTI) and will be facilitated by Open Geneva. The Hackathon will encourage young people to use the technology in an effort to solve one of the world's major development challenges: Smart and Sustainable Cities.
