EU Cybersecurity Strategy

On 16 December 2020, the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy presented a new EU Cybersecurity Strategy. As a key element of Shaping Europe’s Digital Future, the Recovery Plan for Europe and the EU Security Union Strategy, the Strategy will support collective resilience against cyber threats and ensure that all citizens and businesses can fully benefit from reliable and secure services and digital tools. Whether connected devices, the electricity grid or banks, planes, public administrations and hospitals that Europeans use or visit, they deserve to do so by making sure they are protected from cyber threats.

The new Cybersecurity Strategy also allows the EU to strengthen its leadership on international norms and standards in cyberspace and to strengthen cooperation with partners around the world to promote global, open, stable and secure cyberspace based on the championship of law, human rights, fundamental freedoms and democratic values.
