International direct freight train (IDFT) No 48041, consisting of 18 wagons, 72 axles, 486 tons, towed by electric locomotive No 91520087023-5 with locomotive crew, departed on 11.06.2021 at 5:30 a.m. The train movement is in the direction of the Republic of Serbia through the Republic of Bulgaria to the Republic of Turkey. With route of movement Dimitrovgrad ZhS — Dragoman — Sofia — Septemvri — Plovdiv — Svilengrad — Kapıkule (TCDD).
On 22.04.2021 at 23:30 p.m. DFT № 90593 departed from Ruse marshalling yard to Belozem station consisting of: 28 wagons, of which 2 security wagons, one at the head and at the end of the train, and 26 tank cars, full with light fuel (petrol), 437 meters, 1831 tons. The train was served by 3 locomotives - headed by an auxiliary locomotive № 92530600685-7, a train locomotive № 91530400605-8 and a pushing auxiliary locomotive № 91520087020-1.
Derailment of DFT № 30690 in the interstation Shivachevo - Tvarditsa on 12.03.2021
On 15.01.2021 DFT № 30602 consisting of 34 wagons, 818 tons, with electric locomotive №46041 run in the Burgas – Iliyantsi direction. The railway undertaking BDZ-Cargo Ltd. serviced the train. The traffic manager on-duty at Stolnik station ordered a route for transit passing of DFT № 30602 through the station. While the train was entering in the station at switch № 11 derailed the locomotive with the first wheel-set of the first bogie. As a result, from the derailment, no personnel were injured, neither material damages were caused to the railway infrastructure and the locomotive. The train operation between Stolnik and Sarantsi stations was interrupted from 09:00 a.m. ÷ 11:30 a.m. The locomotive was lifted at 11:35 a.m.
On 28.09.2020 at 06:55 a.m. from Sofia station to Burgas station, departed fast train (FT) № 3621, in composition of 4 wagons, 16 axles, 162 tons, serviced with electric locomotive №44094.8. The fast train run in Sofia - Karlovo - Tulovo - Karnobat – Burgas direction. The national railway undertaking “BDZ Passenger Services” Ltd., with electric locomotive №44094.8. The locomotive and the transport train crew were employees of “BDZ Passenger Services” Ltd. The train runs daily in the direction Sofia - Karlovo - Dabovo - Karnobat - Burgas and vice versa. The train arrived in Karnobat station at 12:53 p.m., and after a two-minute stay departed at 12:55 p.m. During the movement of the train in Chernograd - Aytos interstation on track № 1, the locomotive crew smelled smoke coming from the engine compartment. The locomotive driver undertook a quick stop, and the train stopped at 13:07 p.m. , evident from the records of the locomotive's recording device. The locomotive driver activated the fire protection system, however the fire protection system did not start. The assistant locomotive driver and the locomotive driver tried to put out the fire with the portable fire extinguishers of the locomotive, but they failed due to the thick smoke. The locomotive driver called the national telephone number 112 to ask assistance from the fire services. The train was moving at a speed of 120 km/h, with a permissible speed of 130 km/h. During the train's movement on the route from Sofia station to Chernograd station the operation of the locomotive was accident-free.
As a result, from the fire in electric locomotive № 44094.8, no staff and passengers on the train were injured; damages were caused to the electric locomotive, and no damages to the railway infrastructure.
On 14.05.2020 at 18:12 hrs freight train № 80561 of "DB Cargo Bulgaria" EOOD has departed from Zlatitsa station to Burgas station. The train has consisted of 25 wagons filled with pyrite concentrate, 100 axles, 2150 tons. It has been served by an electric locomotive № 88030. The train has arrived at Todor Kableshkov station at 00:05 hrs.
The locomotive crews have shifted at Todor Kableshkov station and the train leaves on 15.05.2020 at 00:20 hrs. Approaching Nova Zagora station, the train travels at a speed of 65 km/h where the maximal permissible is 75 km/h. The train passes through the first entrance switches. At switch № 20 the train passes with its locomotive and the first 5 wagons, but under the 6th wagon, between the two bogies, the switch reverses and the second bogie of the wagon deviates for the 2nd track. After the sixth wagon, 9 more are dragged and derail and 3 of them turn over. The train composition is torn at three places - between the 4th and 5th, between the 5th and 6th, and between the 6th and 7th wagons. The locomotive with the 5 wagons stops on the 4th track, in front of the station at 03:20 hrs.
As a result of the accident, 10 wagons have derailed, as 3 of them have turned with the cargo spilled, and the other 6 have derailed completely.
There are no injured staff and persons.
Enormous material damage is inflicted on the rolling stock and the railway infrastructure of the 3 railway switches, the output signal of the 4th track for the signalization is damaged and about 300 m of the railway, which has been upgraded in 2016 from S- 49 type rails to U 60 type rails.
The traffic through Nova Zagora station is stopped from 03:20 hrs to 08:10 hrs on 15.05.2020.
The movement of trains through Nova Zagora station is been restored along the 5th and 6th tracks.
On 15.07.2020 at 05:02 a.m. from Karlovo station departed DFT No 30682 of the railway undertaking „BDZ-Cargo“ Ltd. in a composition of 42 wagons empty tanks, 168 axles, 833 tonnage, pulled by electrical locomotive No 46041. The transport of DFT No 30682 is performed along the route Bourgas – Zimnitsa – Karlovo – Plovdiv – Sofia – Iliyantsi – Pirdop.
The train departed from Septemvri station at 09:12 a.m., passed without stopping through Belovo station at 09:24 a.m. The traffic manager on duty at Kostenets station after receiving the train departure prepared the route with for accepting the DFT No 30682 on third siding track.
The DFT No 30682 entered in Kostenets station within regularly opened entrance signal for third siding track. The train passed in deviation through switch No 15 (right) and then in curve (left) towards third track with running speed 25 km/h. The locomotive crew felt strong vibrations and jolts in the locomotive cabin, and undertook train stopping.
As a result of the accident - locomotive № 46041 derailed with the first and second wheel to the right in the direction of train movement.
Injured staff and others - no.
Minimal material damage was inflicted on the locomotive at the beginning of the third track at Kostenets station. The railway on the third track has rails type S 49 and sleepers - wood.
The movement of trains through Kostenets station was not stopped during the accident.
