Accelerating the implementation of projects for railways, roads, and digital highways is one of my main tasks. This was stated by the new Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Hristo Alexiev at the acceptance of the management of the Ministry by Georgi Todorov.

Within the term of office of the Caretaker Cabinet, projects for construction and modernization of railway infrastructure worth over BGN 1 billion have been launched. This is what the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov stated at the opening of the new academic year at Todor Kableshkov University of Transport.

The first 70 meters of the longest two-pipe railway tunnel ever built in Bulgaria have already been dug. It is 7 km long and is a component of the large-scale Elin Pelin-Kostenets Railway Project, whose implementation started a little over a month ago.

The State will assist Sofia Airport concessionaire in speeding up the throughput mode of Terminals 1 and 2 and avoidance of gathering of many people at one spot.

Yesterday, August 14, 2021, at about 7:50 pm, in the area of the village of Mirkovo, Pirdop municipality, Sofia district, an ultralight plane caught high-voltage power line wires. As a result, the plane crashed and hit the ground, behind the ceramic factory located in the area. The plane was destroyed as a result of the crush. The pilot and the passenger were injured and taken to hospital.

"The construction of the longest two-pipe railway tunnel, built so far in Bulgaria and at the Balkans, has started today," Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov said. He started the construction activities under a project for modernization of the Elin Pelin-Vakarel railway section. The site is part of the main railway highway in the direction East - West and is one of the extremely important for Bulgaria and neighboring countries European Corridor No. 8 and the passing TEN-T Network in our country.

The railway connectivity of the countries of the Western Balkans is of exceptional importance, which necessitates the rapid implementation of infrastructure projects in the directions to Serbia and Northern Macedonia. This is what the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Neli Andreeva announced at the launch ceremony of the project "Development of the Railway Junction: Sofia-Voluyak". It is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

"Responsible state policy and the attraction of foreign investment will contribute to achieving sustainable connectivity, accelerated economic development and improvement of competitiveness in Eastern Europe", Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Georgi Todorov stated at the opening of the Transport panel at the business forum of the Three Seas 2021 initiative, hosted by Bulgaria.
