Information and communication technology is the fastest growing sector, which is entirely brought to light - with more than 10,000 companies that produce and sell goods and services for over 8 billion levs. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Valery Borissov during the opening of the ICT career day. The event was organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and the main partners are the Bulgarian Association for Information Technology and the National Palace of Culture.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Anton Ginev participated in the First Central and Eastern Europe Countries – China Transport Ministers’ Meeting (16+1) and a Business Conference. The events took place in Riga, Republic of Latvia, in the period 16 – 17 May 2016.

Within the frame of the Ministerial Meeting Deputy Minister Ginev made a presentation entitled “Bulgarian transport infrastructure. China and Central and Eastern Europe Countries connectivity.”

The modernization of the railway line from Plovdiv to the Greek and Turkish borders began more than 10 years ago and finally completes.

"Information Services" AD presented to the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski a centralized system for issue and booking of tickets in real time. This happened during the official opening of the railway sections Dimitrovgrad - Simeonovgrad, Liubimets - Greek border and railway station Liubimets. The assignment is of "BDZ - Passenger Services" EOOD. The contract was awarded following a tender.

"Information Services" Plc signed a three-year contract for technological maintenance of the information and communications systems of the Ministry of Finance. The company will be responsible for maintenance and development of ICT systems of MF, "Customs" Agency and the National Revenue Agency.

Under the contract, "Information Services" Plc will perform activities such as maintenance and development of communication infrastructure, information systems and will provide outsourcing services for specialized units of the Ministry of Finance and others.

According to information received by the Agency for Privatization and Post-Privatization Control there is currently no investment interest for privatization of "BDZ-Freight services" Ltd. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski on a briefing today after a meeting with leaders of trade unions and the national railway carrier.

Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications was awarded for the active support of the National campaign "Easter for everyone" - "Give a holiday to grandparents." Deputy Minister of Transport , Information Technology and Communications – Anton Ginev, accepted a plaque from the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria – Maya Manolova, who is the patron of the initiative. This happened during the award ceremony of the participants in the campaign, which was held today at the Central Military Club in Sofia.

Top companies from IT and telecommunications sector are partners of the Ministry оf Transport, Information Technologies and Communications during the ICT Career Day that will be held on 17th May 2016 at the National Palace of Culture. The initiative is dedicate to the International Day of Telecommunications and Information Society.

On May 10, 2016 the Council of Ministers hosted the conference "Data inviting - a year later".

During the event  the progress of Bulgaria on the Open Data Platform (https://opendata.government.bg) was presented. Bulgaria's Open Data Portal where state institutions publish sets of statistics and data. 177 sets of data as public information available to be used for commercial and non-commercial purposes could be found on the portal.

"Information Services" AD made a profit amounting to over 4 million levs in the first quarter of 2016. The Company revenues from sales grew to 176 thousand levs, which is 5 % over the planned in the Business Plan for the same period. The increase was a result of new contracts and increased sales of electronic signatures by 40 % compared to the planned. Reported profit before taxation was 440 thousand levs, which is 7 times more than the envisaged in the Business Plan.

At the premises of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications was held today an evacuation training for all present individuals. Nearly 500 employees and citizens fulfilled all planned actions on the safe exit of the buildings, panic and incidents were not allowed.

The Fifty-fifth anniversary of the test flight of the first primate in space was marked by a postal-philatelic edition.

The artist Tahsin Ahmed has depicted the chimpanzee Ham also as a personification of the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese horoscope.

"Years after the first flight of a primate the world continues to be staring at space", said during the ceremony Deputy Minister Valery Borissov. In his words, Bulgaria is a part of the cosmic family with its two astronauts, a number of elaborations of devices for space research and the production of space food.

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications ranked second in a research, via evaluation of the websites and electronic submission of applications to the administrative structures within the system of the executive power, carried out by the "Access to Information" Programme.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova opened the fully modernized Central Railway Station in Sofia.

Minister Moskovski commented that the railway station is now a unique facility. "In every European capital this building is a landmark. I believe that it will continue to be so." In his words, all efforts this and next year are focused on regaining stability and success of railway transport, thus ensuring its sustainability.

There are no findings for unlicensed pilots in the Bulgarian aviation. This became clear during today's meeting between Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Anton Ginev, the Director General of Directorate General "Civil Aviation Administration" (CAA) Ivan Ivanov and representatives of the Bulgarian Airlines Association (ABA).

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski still a month ago decided to propose the replacement of the Director General of Civil Aviation Administration /CAA/ Mincho Tsvetkov. The reason for this were signals received in connection with the work of DG "CAA" and the poor administrative management of the Directorate.

On April 21, Minister Moskovski has made a proposal to the Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on the release of the Director of CAA. On April 22 the ordinance has been given to Mincho Tsvetkov.

The preparation of the Trio Presidency of the EU Council in 2017-2018 is discussed at a two-day meeting in Sofia between representatives of the United Kingdom, Estonia and the Bulgarian administration. The meeting was attended by experts as well as by heads of departments and units in the the UK, Estonia and Bulgaria, which are directly responsible for the preparation of the forthcoming Presidency. The event is under the initiative of the Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications. Today the participants were welcomed by the Chief Secretary of the Ministry - Mr.

The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications and personally Minister Ivaylo Moskovski  support the righterous demands of the carriers addressed to the competent authorities – the Ministry of Interior, for control over the gray sector. During the ongoing public discussion on ridesharing Minister Moskovski has not spoken in favour of the ban of the websites for this type of travelling, at least because it is not within his competence.

The project of Rousse Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov" was declared by the International Telecommunication Union a champion by number of online votes in its favor. The project is among the winners in category "Building capacity" of the prestigious awards of Information Society WSIS 2016. The Ministry of Transport, Information Technology and Communications thanked all Internet users who responded to the call for online support of the Bulgarian participant in the race, published in February 2016.

Representatives of the bus industry discussed with the Minister of Transport, Information technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski the pressing problems in the sector. Minister Moskovski undertook immediate actions to resolve two of the issues falling within the competence of the Ministry.
